Dos and Don’ts

My ingenious girlfriend came up with an idea last week after both of us had been complaining for months about the unhealthy choices we were making. Me with the daily mocha devised of three espresso shots, Nutella, milk and diabetes. Her with habits of binging on more ice cream than a girl whose friends brought her a gallon of Ben & Jerry’s because she just got dumped.
Our genetics have allowed us to behave in this way without it affecting our physical image, but if not maintained properly, every train will eventually derail. With the act of competition, she believes we’ll do better at refraining from our temptations and focus on the positives. If I win, when it all ends on June 22nd, she has to do a “make your own” sushi night. She’ll need to prepare or gather all the items needed to make our own sushi at home. I’m probably going to be consuming like 17 rolls.
If she wins, I will have to give her my undivided attention for a whole weekend. That means no work talk, no comedy talk, no gadgets distracting me. For that weekend she’ll be my ultimate distraction, as I try to refresh her like a Facebook page, hoping she has some more notifications and an entertaining newsfeed. She’ll definitely be more entertaining.
Overindulging on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Reddit is a no-no for me. It’ll be difficult to prevent my fingers from typing Faceb…every time I open a new tab. I’ll get to access any of those sites up to 20 times COMBINED! I get a negative point every time I go on after 20. Though, if instead of being on my computer, I get my fat ass up and go play some basketball at the courts outside my house, I get four points. I also get five points for every blog I publish. Cha-ching.
She gets similar points for heading to the gym, eating raw vegetables, researching a new topic, but gets penalized for chowing down a cupcake or having her phone in bed.
This is definitely a plus towards being in a relationship. You can push each other to make better choices, improve your life, and in turn improve the other’s life. Almost an infinite loop of positivity. I still plan on winning though. I love sushi….and winning.
