Slut, Whore, Cunt

What constitutes a slut? My friend Alexis was furious when talking about her friend being a slut. Whenever they went out, Tammy would be “overly flirtatious” and sometimes would even “go home with a guy she just met”. An occasional one night stand made Tammy a whore in the eyes of Alexis. I took offense to that, as we all have sexual urges, some more than others.
I asked Alexis why that equates to a female being a slut or a whore? How many men could Tammy have slept with to peg her as such? Alexis’s estimated guess was, “probably 25 guys.”
25. guys.
Then I asked Alexis, “How many men have you slept with?” She didn’t respond and proceeded to “plead the 5th”. She felt the question was too personal. I had to explain to her that, unfortunately, she cannot use the 5th amendment, as this wasn’t a fuckin’ court room. Here we were as Alexis was lambasting her friend behind her back, divulging personal details about Tammy, and yet, she couldn’t share about her own ventures. After much vagina twisting, she finally gives in, “9 guys.”
9. guys.
So a slut, to Alexis, is 25 guys, and sleeping with 9 guys is good ole wholesome. Surely, a woman who has only slept with 2 men will think that Alexis, who slept with 9, was a slut. A woman who is a virgin would consider a woman having pre-marital sex as being a slut. A woman in a burka would think that a woman that isn’t covered is a slut. And a woman who has had sex with 25 men would probably consider a woman sleeping with 40 men as being a slut. That’s the relative equation of the repressive culture perpetrated by women when referring to each other. With men, it’s the opposite. You’re a pimp if you’ve slept with more women.
The judgmental nature of women towards their own gender isn’t limited to coitus. It applies to dress, language, body type, hobbies, social network, mannerism, and who they hang out with. Pretty much anything a woman does is scrutinized in regards to how unladylike they are.
I couldn’t comprehend why mainly women were up in arms at Miley Cyrus’s 2013 VMA performance. The internet was littered with posts after posts of women shitting on her, while you see a thumbnail of the poster’s profile picture with slightly less skin on display. Sure, the performance wasn’t tasteful, but to me, it’s a great point in society that a woman can push the limits as such to a worldwide audience, the same way men have enjoyed it for eternity. Britney, Janet, Gaga, have all went through this wash cycle.
What’s really shameful is that instead of women letting it be, this man with a penis is writing a blog to rationally defend her. Maybe we haven’t progressed as far as we assume.
